Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood for our sins. We believe that salvation is found by placing our faith in what Jesus did for us on the cross. We believe that a person must confess with their mouth and believe in their heart that Jesus is Lord in order to be saved. We believe Jesus rose from the dead and is coming again.
Romans 10:9-12 tells us that “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, anyone who trusts in Him will never be disgraced.” (NLT)
If you have done this, then you are born again, and will spend eternity in Heaven, forever in the presence of the Lord—and you are now a candidate to be baptized in water.
Water baptism is an outward symbol of the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a covenant act which we are instructed to do and which pleases God. Baptism is so significant even Jesus submitted Himself to be baptized by John the Baptist.
(Read Matthew 3:13-17.)
Water baptism is not for the forgiveness of sins. It is the blood of Jesus that makes us free from sin. Baptism signifies our identification with Christ from His crucifixion to His resurrection. Baptism is a physical act with a spiritual outcome. “You were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with Him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.” (Colossians 2:12 NLT)
We are baptized in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19
